In a strategic move to expand its offering into Europe, Gardiner Bros & Co (Leathers) Ltd and Footsure Western Ltd have announced the acquisition of Dubois, a renowned distributor of quality footwear across Europe.

Founded in 1951 by Jean Dubois, the Brussels-based third generation family enterprise has emerged as the official distributor of esteemed footwear and apparel brands including Aigle, CAT Footwear, Dickies, Berghen, and Gant. With a keen focus on building strong consumer relationships and nurturing long-term visions, the company has established itself as a trusted partner for successful distribution across Europe, catering to both retail and e-commerce needs.

This acquisition marks a step forward for Gloucester-based Gardiners Group and a significant expansion into Europe. Both teams are well-positioned to leverage shared expertise, enhance operational capabilities, and expanded market presence, whilst preserving the character and cultural identity that they’ve become known for. Dubois will be immediately adding Timberland Pro, Hard Yakka, Amblers Safety, and Base London to its growing portfolio.

James Gardiner, CEO of Gardiner Bros, said: “Expanding into the European market alongside a trusted partner like Dubois significantly strengthens our position as the go-to supplier that unites trusted brands and retailers. We’re bringing together two highly complementary businesses grounded with deep consumer understanding and shared values. At the core of our partnership is our mutual dedication to fostering authentic long-term relationships with our customers and a shared ambition to place sustainability and ethical practices at the forefront of our mission.”

The Dubois office and showroom are strategically positioned in the heart of Europe, providing the ideal focal point for continental operations. Situated in Nivelles, just south of Brussels, their warehouse enables a fast, efficient, and far-reaching distribution network. Backed by decades of expertise, the European team brings deep industry knowledge and proven experience in wholesale supply across the region.

CEO of Dubois, Jean-Jacques Vankeerberghen, added: “The acquisition of Dubois by the Gardiners Group is a fantastic opportunity for the company to grow its business with existing and new brands in Benelux and the whole of Europe. Our shared values are important to me as we progress the integration of the two historical family businesses.”

The Gardiners group is the largest UK family-owned distributor to the footwear trade, known for its broad portfolio of brands, longstanding industry partnerships, and has a reputation of exceptional customer service. With roots dating back to 1860, Gardiner Bros continues to thrive and grow by honouring these core values and building a strategic pathway together with their partners.
